Integrated Travel Timetables

At present train arrivals often do not connect with onward trains or buses. The timetables should be rearranged with more frequent trains run and more clean carriages available for passengers.

At airports it is often not possible to link easily with onward trains or buses eg Aberdeen Airport,Inverness Airport.

Local bus services have been reduced to a non-user friendly level, they must be reintrroduced to an acceptable level.

Cycle/walk paths intergrating local areas should be established.

Why the contribution is important

These very simple ideas would encourage people to use public transport or to cycle or walk. This would help reduce our carbon footprint. Encouraging people to walk or cycle would also help improve our atrocious health record.

This area needs to be considered when new housing developments are planned. Where is the designated space for car sharing in new housing developments? This would encourage people to reduce car use.

Yes, I agree that this is a key factor for promoting public transport. There often seems to be no real attempt at integrating timetables, making rail travel unnecessarily difficult. In many cities the bus station is not near the rail station, and can be hard to find (Dundee is an obvious example - despite the current redevelopment of the areas around the railway station, there seems to be no plan to create a bus interchange opposite the station, which would be an obvious benefit).

I agree about organising transport links but in my experience the world is too complex to think that we can centrally plan coordinated timetables as set out here.
